Electrolysis

What is ELECTROLYSIS?

Electrolysis is a method used for permanent hair removal. A fine needle is inserted into the hair follicle, and heat is applied to weaken the follicle, preventing it from producing new hair. This technique is especially effective for smaller areas and is the only method suitable for treating blonde or white hair. Multiple sessions are usually required to address each follicle effectively.

At our clinic, we offer electrolysis in 15, 30, and 45-minute intervals. We also provide package options of 8 sessions at a discounted rate, as multiple treatments are often necessary for optimal results. The procedure involves minimal discomfort, generally felt as a tiny pinch, and there is no downtime. Some redness at the treatment site may occur but typically resolves within a few days.

Pre Treatment

Avoid:

  • Shaving the treatment area for at least 3 days before your appointment to ensure hair is at the optimal length for removal.
  • Sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for at least 1-2 weeks prior to treatment to prevent skin irritation.
  • Using harsh skincare products or undergoing other skin treatments (e.g., chemical peels) immediately before your appointment.
  • Taking blood-thinning medications or supplements, as they can increase the risk of bruising or irritation.

Post Treatment

Do:

  • Apply a soothing, fragrance-free moisturizer to the treated area to help calm any redness or irritation.
  • Keep the treated area clean and avoid applying any makeup or other products for at least 24 hours.
  • Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 on the treated area if exposed to the sun.

Avoid:

  • Sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners for at least 1-2 weeks after treatment to prevent irritation and discoloration.
  • Hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms for 24-48 hours to avoid further irritation.
  • Scrubbing, picking, or exfoliating the treated area for at least a week.
  • Engaging in activities that cause excessive sweating, such as vigorous exercise, for 24-48 hours.

These steps will help ensure a smooth recovery and the best results from your electrolysis treatment.
