Intense Pulsed Light Treatment

What is IPL Photofacial?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacial is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to target and improve various skin concerns. By emitting short bursts of light energy, IPL treatments effectively address issues like sunspots, freckles, and vascular lesions by breaking down melanin and blood vessels beneath the skin’s surface.

Lumecca is an advanced IPL technology that optimizes energy delivery in the 500-600 nm range, significantly enhancing its effectiveness for treating both pigmented and vascular conditions. This breakthrough IPL solution offers superior results by targeting sunspots and freckles, reducing compromised cells, and stimulating collagen production and circulation. The outcome is a clearer complexion and revitalized skin.

Benefits

The benefits of IPL Photofacials include:

  • Reduction of sunspots, freckles, and age spots
  • Improved skin tone and texture
  • Diminished appearance of vascular lesions, such as broken capillaries and rosacea
  • Stimulation of collagen production, promoting smoother, more youthful skin
  • Non-invasive with minimal discomfort and downtime
  • Effective treatment for various areas of the body
  • Brightening and rejuvenating the complexion for a clearer, more radiant look.

How it Works

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacials work by emitting controlled bursts of light energy that penetrate the skin’s surface. The light targets melanin in sunspots and freckles, as well as hemoglobin in visible blood vessels, breaking them down without harming surrounding tissue. After treatment, dark spots may temporarily darken before naturally flaking off over the next few days.

This treatment is most commonly used on the face and neck, but it’s also effective on the hands, chest, shoulders, and back. As the body eliminates treated cells, skin tone becomes clearer and more even, while collagen production is stimulated, leaving skin smoother and rejuvenated. Multiple sessions are typically recommended for the best results.

Pre Treatment

Avoid:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning (natural or artificial) for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Discontinue retinoids or any active skincare products (AHAs, BHAs, etc.) 3-5 days before your appointment.
  • Shave the treatment area if necessary, but avoid shaving the day of your treatment.
  • Avoid chemical peels or laser treatments on the area to be treated for at least 2 weeks before the IPL session.
  • Stay hydrated and keep your skin moisturized leading up to the treatment.

Post Treatment

Avoid:

  • Avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) at all times to protect the treated area.
  • Do not pick or scratch at any darkened spots or flakes; let them naturally shed over the following days.
  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, or excessive heat for 24-48 hours after treatment to prevent irritation.
  • Moisturize the treated area regularly to promote healing and reduce dryness or peeling.
  • Avoid harsh skincare products like retinoids, acids (AHAs, BHAs), or exfoliants for at least 1 week after the treatment.
  • Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water to support the skin’s healing process.
  • If any swelling or discomfort occurs, you can apply a cold compress or take over-the-counter pain relief if necessary.
  • Wait at least 48 hours before applying makeup to the treated area to avoid irritation.
