Total units to be determined following a professional consultation. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple physician administered treatment which involves the injection of purified protein into specific areas to temporarily smooth lines, wrinkles and furrows caused by excessive facial movements.
Our Medical Professional evaluates patterns of facial expressions and looks for moderate to severe facial lines caused by the action of these muscles. The location, size and action of the muscles that create these “wrinkles” will vary among different individuals. Our Medical Professional will mark these locations and administer several small injections of Botox Cosmetic directly into the muscles that cause these wrinkles. The objective is to create a youthful and more relaxed appearance and NOT a “MASK” or “expressionless” look.
Each area requires a different number of units of Botox as determined by our Medical Professional .
Areas that can be treated with BOTOX include:
Glabella/frown lines (area between the brows)
Horizontal forehead lines
Bunny lines (wrinkles on top of your nose)
Peri-oral lines (around the mouth)
Brow lift (Botox can be injected above the outer area of the brow to create a lifting effect)
Sweat reduction for armpits (underarms) and hands or hyperhidrosis
Gummy smile reduction or correction
Hyperhidrosis is the medical name given to the condition of excessive sweating. It is a common medical condition affecting both men and women equally and usually begins whether as a child or an adolescent. This type of sweating occurs on very specific areas of the body and is usually relatively
“symmetric” meaning that both the left and right sides of the body are affected similarly. The most common focal areas are the hands, feet, underarms, and face or head. You can have one area affected or a combination of the above. The cause is unknown. Sweating is controlled by our brain and likely the glands are over stimulated in some way resulting in too much sweating
What Causes Excessive Sweating?
We sweat to regulate our body temperature, but some life changes such as pregnancy or menopause can create excessive sweating. thanks to the discovery of Botulinum toxin A which came as a breakthrough in the treatment of HH.
What is Botox®and how does it treat Hyperhidrosis?
Botox® neurotoxin is a purified protein that helps control sweating by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands, thereby preventing sweat from being produced in the treatment area. When BOTOX® is placed near the sweat glands the signals to sweat is stopped.
Botox® injections work well for nearly all cases of underarm (axilla) sweating and is the easiest to administer. Often a simple solution is put on the skin to see the exact area a person sweats from and then Botox® in injected with tiny needles just under the skin. Most people achieve a 90% reduction in
We have seen that Botox® injections are very effective at treating palmar sweating. As the hands are sensitive, we use a freezing technique to minimize discomfort.
Most sweating occurs near the hair line and drips down the face. Botox® injections work very well for sweating of the frontal scalp and upper forehead. Only a few injections are needed to control sweating in this area.
Many individuals are highly satisfied with treatment of the feet. It is not uncommon to find improvement of the feet after just the hands are treated. Although many people have a high level of satisfaction with treatment of the feet it can sometimes not be as predictable as the hands and underarms as to the degree of treatment success.
Does it hurt?
Our trained physicians ensure that there is minimal to no pain during the injections, although you may experience some injection related discomfort.
How long does the treatment take?
The length of treatment depends on the area being treated. On average, the treatments are completed in 10 to 20 minutes * Results may vary
How long does it take to reduce sweating?
The reduction in sweating begins to take effect in the first few days, but it may take up to 1 week to reach full effectiveness but the results are dramatic. On average, there is over 80% decrease of sweat production in that area that lasts on average 7 months. Remarkably, up to a third of patients can go 1 year before they return for more. Therefore, you are treated once or maximally twice per year and don’t have to worry about constantly treating the area.
* Results may vary
Are there any side effects?
Side effects, if they occur, are temporary. These commonly include minor bruising and swelling at the injection site. Other reported side effects include dry mouth, tiredness, headache, neck pain, and dry eyes.
Is this treatment for everyone?
There are very few restrictions regarding Botox® treatments for Hyperhidrosis. Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known neurological disorder (i.e. Myasthenia Gravis or Eaton Lambert Syndrome), allergy to the ingredients in the botulinum toxin formulation, specifically albumin, should
not be treated.
Dysport is a highly anticipated and newly FDA-approved alternative to BOTOX® as it is reported it has a faster onset of action than regular BOTOX® for last minute occasions. This injectable treatment for wrinkles is made from the same neurotoxin (“botulinum“toxin type A) as Botox. Like Botox, Dysport works by treating specific “wrinkle-causing” facial muscles in order to eliminate the “dynamic wrinkles” caused by actions of these muscles. In the proper hands, Dysport can provide a very natural appearing and dramatic improvement in your appearance. Dysport treatments are performed in the comfort of our office. There is no down time with this procedure, and you can return to your regular daily activities immediately.
What is Dysport?
Dysport is a medically derived subunit of “botulinum” toxin called “abobotuliunum” toxin. This acts as a “chemodenervation” agent, which means that it weakens the muscles into which it is placed. The precise placement of Dysport into specific areas of the face will improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
What is the difference between Botox and Dysport ?
Since both Dysport and Botox treat dynamic wrinkles through “chemodenervation” their results are very similar. However, there are potential benefits to both products. Experienced with both Botox and Dysport, our Medical Professional will help you select which product will be best for you.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a natural and major component of the skin. Over time our body looses collagen, elastin and fat, and our skin begins to sag. Due to the above changes we begin to lose that youthful appearance in our skin. Dermal fillers such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, Perlane®, and Teosyal are HA fillers with different technology used to correct the above changes in areas such as cheeks, nasal- labial folds and creases around mouth to help restore that youthful appearance.
Modern Medi Spa uses the following HA derma fillers in order to achieve the best results.
The exclusive formulation of JUVÉDERM® uses hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally-occurring sugar found in your body. It combines with the water in your skin to instantly smooth lines and wrinkles, enhance lips, and restore lost volume to the cheeks and jaw-line. In fact, hyaluronic acid facial fillers can even naturally stimulate collagen production in your skin.
JUVÉDERM® is made of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body and retains water under the skin to smooth away lines, restore lost volume and maintain skin hydration. Much like a sponge, its primary function is to bind and absorb water, which creates volume in the face. In fact, hyaluronic acid can absorb more than 1,000 times its weight – acting like a super sponge under your skin. Hyaluronic acid can be thought of as the body’s internal moisturizer. As the skin ages and is exposed to environmental pollutants and ultraviolet rays, the cells lose the ability to produce hyaluronic acid. As a result, the skin begins to lose volume, often resulting in the formation of facial wrinkles and folds.
JUVÉDERM® achieves facial rejuvenation by replacing hyaluronic acid lost over time, smoothing lines, restoring lost skin volume, and keeping your skin hydrated. Best of all, the results are instantaneous, look natural, and may last up to a year with no downtime.

The HA used in the Revanesse products is obtained through non-animal sources, making it safe for medical use. It is put through a proprietary bonding process called Thixofix cross-linking to make it more durable so that it is longer-lasting in the skin. This technology creates a gel that is smooth integrating naturally into the skin as well as greatly reducing undesirable side effects of a treatment. Thixofix technology results in high quality, safe and long-lasting dermal fillers.
The key ingredient in ReDexis- dextranomer beads- is made of biocompatible sugar molecules that stimulate new collagen production. This new collagen will stay at the injection site, providing natural augmentation long after the HA has been absorbed. The end result is increased volume to the injection site and a longer-lasting, more natural look.
Revaness is a Canadian made product that is manufactured and distributed ONLY in Canada.
